psychosocial network theory
blending the lines between self and society
a new behavioral analysis paradigm
Psychosocial network theory suggests that individual behavior and collective response reciprocally and irreducibly cause each other in real time. Our ability to believe and behave as we wish depends on the social technology (language, knowledge, laws, etc) available to us, and the choices each and every individual makes influence how that social technology evolves in real time.
the yin & yang of self & society
behavioral value networks
Value networks (as defined by Clayton Christensen) are the context within which a firm identifies and responds to customer needs, procures inputs, reacts to competitors, and strives for profit. Psychosocial network theory applies this concept more broadly to all human behavior, acknowledging how the individuals and institutions we interact with influence us.
Endogame Psychosocial Networks
Psychosocial network theory is the framework used to interpret the patterns revealed by the Endogame Network.
By treating the network as a single psychosocial system made up of interdependent subsystems and constructs (individuals, places, family units, historical incidents, etc), we are able to acknowledge nuanced relationships and avoid blaiming the straw that broke the camel's back for the entire load.
constrained will
When assessing decisions made by individuals within psychosocial networks, it's important to understand constrained will as a mid-ground between expecting individuals to pull off miraculous acts of free will and blaming everyone's individual existences on systemic causes.
Constrained will is an interpretation of decision-making that acknowledges the reality of social, biological, and environmental constraints while acknowledging our capacity for meaningful choice within them.
When looking at a history of power like the Endogame, it's important to assess constraint context before assuming strategic collusion.
accurate accountability
Psychosocial analysis of the Endogame network isn't meant to assign nor absolve personal blame; it's meant to allow complex patterns to be what they are and identify them properly
explanations are neither indictments nor excuses
psychosocial precision
By seeing the situation beyond black and white reductions, we're able to both understand root causes better and respond intentionally without causing more problems than we're solving.
Complex system analysis is what allows us to ask the important question: how much of the Endogame is driven by conscious corruption, and how much is driven by compliance under constraint? Swarm theory helps us to consider this further.
constraint or corruption?
